TPT License Info
Disclaimer: Wendy and Mostess cannot advise you on your taxes. Please see our contract where it mentions this is not part of the deal. :) Wendy will break out into hives at the mere mention of taxes. We do have two resources who will set this up for you as it is not the easiest thing to do. See the resources below.
TPT LICENSE SET UP + RENEWAL:
Every short-term rental in Arizona must operate with a Transaction Privilege Tax License, AKA TPT License.
Send your TPT License number to patricia@mostess.host when you receive it
Renew your license annually
TPT PAYMENTS:
You must reconcile on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis, depending on what the State of Arizona decided when you set it up.
The taxes collected will be referred to occupancy taxes on Airbnb, VRBO, etc.
You will collect these occupancy taxes directly if there is a direct booking (coming soon).
Airbnb and VRBO will collect and remit on your behalf. However, there is nothing to match up these funds that were remitted to your TPT License number. So, you must file every month/quarter/year so that the State knows those taxes were paid for your property.
Does this sound like it sucks? Well, it does. Get help… see below.
GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO THIS
Avalara: a company that will set this up and help you reconcile monthly for around $35/month. They will also set it up for you should you want that assistance.
Mostess Assistance: Patricia is our License guru and can set up all of your licenses for you. There will be an administrative fee on top of the cost of the licenses themselves. Reach out to her at patricia@mostess.host
